Council also gave direction on the approach for moving forward and requested that staff monitor building permit activity during the time that a permanent solution is being developed. This is the ninth nzonthly report and includes permit data and approved demolition permits for the month of December 2008. The attached charts show that the number of building permit applications for single-family dwellings in December 2008 was lower than in December 2007 (11 in December 2008 compared to 26 in December 2007). RAC KGROIJND: As part oI• deciding not to move forward on an interim ordinance at this time, council requested that staff provide regular updates on single-family dwelling building permits received and approved demolition permits while a permanent solution is being developed. The attachments below provide a context for monitoring increases (or decreases) in single-family building permit activity and approved demolition permits. Staff will provide a monthly WIP to council including the following reports: I) Attaehnnent A --Number ofsingle-family dwelling permits received ri~onthly since January 2007. This information provides a broad overview of permit applications and will illustrate any dramatic spikes in building permit activity. 2) Attachment B - A monthly summary of the number ofsingle-family dwelling permits received by zvning district and building permit project square footages. 3} Attachment C - A monthly detailed report including the number ofsingle-iarnily dwelling permits received by zoning district, building permit project square footages, scope oi' work, address, and gross FAR calculations. 4) Attachment D - A trend report including a summary of single-family dwelling permits received during the previous tlu-ee years. 5) Attachment E - A monthly repoz-t including details of approved demolition permits. 1 ANALYSIS: Decei~,ber 2008 single-family pern-cit applications received (11) were silnlificantlybebw historical averages. Historical averages for the month of December equals 25 single-family permit applications based on data from 2000-2007. In addition, when comparing permit applications received for 2005 (423 permits), 2006 (381 pernits), 2007 (383 permits), and 2008 (300 permits) it is evident that 2008 permits received are also below historical averages. 1\ EX'1' STEPS: All four reports will be upclatcd and sent to council monthly in a Weekly Information Packet (WIP).
