Dear Mr Hewat,
My husband and I live at 3240 11th Street. I would like to let you know we strongly support the construction of
the 2 car carport at 3231 11th Street. I think this is a very smart and efficient manner of handling the issue of
lack of parking on 11.th street. I believe that Bob Carmichael has done an extraordinary job of maintaining the
character of this historic home and marrying the structure with environmental amenities. We believe this
structure would be consistent with prior construction.
We believe this home is a showcase for what can be accomplished when the vision and support of the City of
Boulder is merged with a homeowner that wants to do "the right thing".
We commend everyone on the Landmark Board and as a homeowner on 11th street are thrilled with what your
team has accomplished!
Kind regards,
Liz and Paige Jacques

Subject: 3231 11th Street LAC Request
Hi James,
Thank you for your letter informing me about the latest LAC request from Bob Carmichael. I'm sorry to be
so long in responding, & plan to be present at the hearing. I assume you'll distribute my response to whomever
else is pertinent. I hope everyone who participated in the original process for designation has been notified &
will also participate.
It seems to me that this historic property, just 3 doors south of me, is already overbuilt, & oveiplanted. The
large, modern addition & double garage overshadow the original 1903 little stone house; the tall plantings hide
it even more. How can the addition of a large carport possibly be justified? Please consider the intent of
landinarking. The flexibility in the wording surely doesn't extend this far.
The T fortress fence underscores the lack of protection this property has already undergone from previous
LAC's approved by you. No wonder he continues to ask for more leeway. As have others, following his lead.
You have denied some of those, thankfully.
Please do the same with this newest request.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Saunders
