HomeMy WebLinkAbout6B - Update Memo November 3rd, 2010 TO: Landmarks Board PROM: James Hewat, Jessica Vaughn SUBJECT: Update Memo Landmarks Board/City Council The City Council has indicated interest in having a study session with the Landmarks Board to discuss issues related to historic preservation and sustainability. A study session will be scheduled for February. Post WW-II Residential Subdivision Survey and Context The Post WW-11 video is complete and online with over 450 views its first week. The website also has been updated to include a question and comments form as well. The first "Boulder Matters" meeting was held Wednesday, October 21, 2010. Historic Preservation staff presented the video and gave a short presentation in an outbreak session. The session was fairly well attended and great feedback was received from the community. Update at meeting. Association for Preservation Technology International Conference in Denver James attended the conference and will provide an update at the meeting. Valmont Mill Architect Belinda Zink is currently doing field work for Historic Structure Assessment. The work is being funded by a State Historical Fund grant and completion is expected in December. Regional Transit District (RTD) Facility adjacent to Union Pacific Depot RTD has released an rfp for bids to construct the Transit Facility adjacent to the depot. Update at meeting. Union Pacific Depot A request for funding to undertake a historic structure assessment from the Colorado Historical Society (CHS) was denied based upon the fact that the building has been moved twice and CHS's opinion that the building has lost historic integrity and context. Staff has requested that the CHS reassess the historic integrity of the building. Update at meeting. Landmark Alteration Certificate application revisions Staff is continues work on revisions to the Landmark Alteration Certificate application 1 to reflect compatible development changes to the code. Stay-of-Demolition Status Summary 3615 Broadway - Stay-of-demolition expires December 7tt', 2010. Staff has looked into the possibility of rezoning and concluded that a rezoning of this area would not be feasible. In order to get additional development potential the zone district would have to change from RR-2 to RL-1, which would result in a significant increase in density for the area and a BVCP land use designation change. Another meeting will be scheduled with the applicant to discuss options in moving forward. 537 Canyon Boulevard - Stay-of-demolition expires January 31st, 2011. No meetings have taken place. 1330 5t" Street - Stay-of-demolition expires March 81tl, 2011. A meeting is scheduled for the week of October 251h. Update at meeting. 2
