To: Landmazks Preservation Advisory Boazd re: 512 Mazine Street
# 1) I was very disappointed and have heazd the same from some neighbors about the
cheap masonite siding that you allowed on the house addition. This material has no
historic reference and is the cheapest material that could possibly have been selected. It is
visible from the street. This is not Rock Creek, Firestone, or Thornton, this is an historic
district in west Boulder. The siding should have been of a material with historic reference
such as wood shingles, boazd and batten, or real wood siding of some sort that was used
in the early 1900's.
Please do not allow the proposed garage to have the same inappropriate material.
#2) I know that the existing garage carries some label as being historically significant. I
think that is a stretch at best. That shed is an eyesore about to fall down and hurt someone
and I would be more than happy if you let the owner demolish it.
I would urge the owner to construct the new garage to look old in the character of the
historic period.
I would appreciate that the source of this letter remain anonymous.
Thanks,
