Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.
Minutes
The November 28, 2012, meeting minutes were reviewed, Commissioner LeMae motioned to approve
the minutes, motion seconded by Chair Turbiak. The motion carried unanimously.
As a point of housekeeping, LeMae stepped down as the BAC liaison to the BMoCA Board of Directors
and Commissioner Moss is now serving as BAC liaison.
Matters from the Department
Director Maginnis provided information on public art installations included in recent Public Works/
Transportation projects. Moss asked if the transportation department has to have money for public art.
Maginnis agreed to contact the department director for an answer.
Information and Discussion Items
Budgeting for Continued Workshops with BCAA:
The Commissioners received information from BCAA (Boulder County Arts Alliance) Director, Charlotte
LaSasso, about the workshops presented by BCAA and funded in 2012 by the BAC. Some workshops
were better attended than others and BAC requested that attendance information. Commissioner Salim
stated that she wanted to fund the workshops again. Turbiak asked LaSasso to return to the BAC with a
more formal proposal for funding future workshops that would include community needs, program
goals and measurements. Also discussed was a future funding source, as this program was not yet a line
item in the BAC budget, and, the 2012 request did not go through the established grant process.
LaSasso stated that she would return to the BAC with the information requested.
Goals Memorandum to City Council:
The Commission reviewed a draft memo provided by Maginnis. Turbiak requested that commissioners
send their input to him (not to copy other commissioners) and he and Maginnis would finalize the
memorandum the week of December 24, 2012, with the understanding that it was due on December 28,
2012.
BAC Online Culture Grants Process:
