arts community.

project idea. Joy Pak spoke to the specifics of the Dairy/Google/Autism Society proposal (Google at the Dairy) with
additional comments by Dusty Reid and Tom Wyman of Google, Inc., and other members of the project.
The Commission discussed the pros and cons of the proposal, but could not reach consensus. It was agreed to
continue the conversation at the December BAC meeting when commissioner Linda Haertling would be present.

contact Meneghini with instructions to rewrite some of the responses.
The budget report for Lauren Shepard's 2011 Mini-Grant project, FEED: Salt, was reviewed. LeMae made a motion
to approve; Salim seconded and the report was approved unanimously.
Discussion Items
Digital Grant System Update
Maginnis provided details as to the status of the grant digitization goal. He recommendation was to move forward
with WESTAF's GO Grants Online system, which, despite being the pricier option, provided the best product and
the most support for system implementation and technical support. Discussions with WESTAF may begin in
December with installation, testing and implementation in 2012.
Report from the Public Art Ad Hoc Committee
Salim, Maginnis and Ravenwood provided a report on the meeting with City Manager Jane Brautigam regarding
goals of the new public art program. The Commission discussed possibilities for moving forward in pursuit of a "1%
for the arts" initiative to assist in funding the public art program.
BAC City Council Presentation
Maginnis provided a draft letter for a three-minute presentation to City Council as to the current specific goals and
recent accomplishments of the Boulder Arts Commission. Commissioners agreed to work on the script and attend
the Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 6, to make their presentation.
AFTA Scholarship
The commissioners provided feedback on the scholarship form. Ravenwood agreed to make revisions and provide
a final draft with the goal of posting the form online and advertising its availability for a February, 2012 deadline.
Artscape Ad
Discussion of the Artscape ad was deferred to the Marketing/Advertising Ad Hoc committee of LeMae and Salim.
Calendar of Business for 2012
Ravenwood presented a draft calendar of business for 2012 and reviewed noteworthy variations from the current
year's calendar. Turbiak motioned to approve; LeMae seconded, and the calendar of business was accepted.
Arts in Education Grant Proposal Follow-up
These four grants were presented at the October meeting. The Commission provided an option for three of them
(Boulder Chorale, September High School and Boulder Digital Arts) to make revisions to their proposals for a
second chance at approval. The fourth, Boulder Ensemble Theater Company, was initially declined for lack of
supporting documentation from partners, but this information was later discovered to have been included in the
supplemental materials and missed during the initial review.
Boulder Chorale's proposal was reviewed again along with additional documentation provided for this meeting.
The Commission agreed the organization had met the requirements, and an award of $3000 would be granted.
September High School's proposal was reviewed again along with additional documentation provided for this
meeting. As the approved motion at the October meeting was for an undesignated amount, Salim motioned to
specify and approve $2625 in grant funds; LeMae seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Boulder Digital Arts' proposal was reviewed again along with additional documentation provided for this meeting.
The Commission noted a shortfall of $3900 in the budget, which was not addressed in any manner. Staff was asked
to clarify that BDA would cover the shortfall allowing the project to move forward. If BDA provided documentation
of their intent to cover the shortfall, then grant funds of $3000 would be released.
The Boulder Ensemble Theater Company proposal was reviewed again in light of supplemental materials, which
were not recognized at the October meeting. Salim motioned to fund at $3000 by taking all remaining funds from
the Major Grant budget, and pulling any other needed funds from the Arts and Business Collaborative Grant fund.
Salmons seconded and the motion was given unanimous approval.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
