Arts and Business Collaborative Grant Follow Up
The Commission agreed to table the Arts and Business Collaborative Grant follow up discussion until the May
meeting. Staff was requested to arrange a meeting between Sandra Llanes of the City Attorney's Office and
Salmons and LeMae to discuss advisory panel issues for future ABC Grant proposals.
Final Report Revislon and Executive Summary
Turbiak presented a revised grant budget report form to be used for Arts in Education, Major, Mini- and Theater
Rental/Marketing Assistance Grants. Salim motioned for approval with LeMae providing a second and the new
form was unanimously accepted subject to formatting changes.
Conflict of Interest Follow-up
A memorandum relating to conflict of interest issues sent by City Attorney Tom Carr was discussed and the remedy
proposed by Carr was deemed acceptable to the Commission. Staff was asked to respond to Carr with the request
that he move forward with his suggested plan to resolve the issue.
Digital Grant Submission
LeMae moved to come up with an action plan for implementing an online granting system with the GO (Grants
Online) internet system. Salim seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Le Mae agreed to pursue a
presentation from WESTAF (the company able to provide the GO system) for the May planning meeting.
Macky Auditorium
A memorandum from staff regarding the Macky Auditorium contract which provides the Arts Commission with the
ability to offer free rental of the auditorium was briefly discussed. The Commission requested that further inquiries
be made by staff as to options on the gallery space and dance addition (also mentioned in the contract).

amount of $1138.00. Salim seconded and the motion passed with LeMae voting against.
A proposal by Open Arts for the program El Maleficio de la Mariposa (The Butterfly's Evil Spell) was considered.
Salim motioned to award the full amount of $3000.00. Turbiak seconded the motion which passed with LeMae

Workshop was considered. Turbiak motioned to award the full amount of $2825.00 which passed unanimously
with LeMae seconding.
A proposal by Mary Ann Williamson for the project PACKED was discussed, but failed for lack of a motion. The
underlying sentiment from the Commission was that the education component was not strong enough.
Mini-Grant Proposals
A second proposal by Mary Ann Williamson for the same project, PACKED, was considered in the Mini-Grant
category and passed unanimously for the full amount of $1000 with Turbiak making the initial motion and
Haertling seconding-
A proposal by Rebecca Bradford/The Bradford Creative for a project titled The Improv Sampler was considered.
After discussion, Salim moved to award the rental portion of the grant proposal at $764 and to award the funds
from the Theater Rental/Marketing Assistance grant category rather than the Mini-Grant category. This motion
passed unanimously with Turbiak seconding.

motion. Budget inconsistencies were noted.
Theater Rental/Marketing Assistance Grant Proposals

considered. Turbiak motioned to approve the full $3000. Haertling seconded the motion which carried
unanimously.
A proposal by Devil's Thumb Productions for the project Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead was

funds, and that the budget was inconsistent.
A second proposal from Goddess Here Productions, for the project The Great Goddess Bazaar was considered.
Turbiak moved to award $2000 for theater rental, but decline the request for $1000 for marketing. Haertling
seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
A proposal from The Shoot Out 24 Hour Filmmaking Festival Boulder, for the project Top 10 Films Awards
Screening was considered but failed for lack of a motion. The proposal, revolving around film projects, was
inconsistent with the aims of the grant category which is meant for live theater performance.
A proposal from Turning the Wheel Productions, Inc., for the project Bridges was considered. Turbiak moved to
fund at $2000 with Haertling seconding the motion. This passed with Salim voting against.
