Minutes of the February 18, 2009 meeting were approved as amended. Election of Officers: The election was postponed until May when all members will be in attendance. Nolan agreed to be acting chair for the meeting. Final Reports: Final grant reports for the following organizations were approved as received: Upstart Crow (Theater rent), Paul Barchilon (Arts in Education), Patti Bruck (Arts in Education), Square Product Theater (Major), Boulder Ensemble Theater (Theater rent), Dragonfly Productions (Theater rent). Theater Rent Grants Parlando School for the Arts: Unanimously awarded $3000.00. Margarita Blush: Unanimously awarded $1707.00. Kirsten Wilson: Unanimously awarded $3000.00. Organizational Advancement Grants Boulder Chorale: Board and Financial Development. Awarded $2000.00. Boulder County Arts Alliance: Capacity Building/Sustainability - Failed for lack of a motion. Comments: This type of webinar would be better if it was interactive. Since attendance at actual workshops is down, how many people would go online to participate? Dairy Center for the Arts: Perception Assessment - Failed for lack of a motion. Comments: The proposal presents a vague principle. Why would a firm need to be hired with all of the free survey tools available? EcoArts: Organizational Strategic Planning - Failed for lack of a motion. Comments: The vision for the organization does not seem to be an issue. The organization is in need of financial help. The project was vague. Frequent Flyers Productions: Online Registration System - Awarded $5000.00. Open Studios: Rebranding Project - Awarded $8000.00. Parlando School for the Arts: Marketing Plan - Failed for lack of a motion. The application was confusing. It was not apparent if a marketing plan is primary versus a strategic plan. Society for Creative Aging: Strategic Planning - Failed for lack of a motion. Comments: Commissioners felt the application was incomplete. It lacked information on how the organization would work on strategic planning and with whom. Colorado Shakespeare Festival: Marketing/Audience Development - Failed for lack of a motion. Mini-Grants Teri Charles: Resonance Women's Chorus, BraveSouls and Dreamers performance. Unanimously awarded $1000. Upstart Crow: Opening of the 30`h anniversary season presenting The Real Inspector Hound. Unanimously awarded $1000. Colorado Music Festival: Summer Chamber concerts at Rembrandt Yard. Unanimously awarded $1000. Postoley Dance Ensemble: Folk Dance on the Plaza next to the Dushanbe Teahouse. Unanimously awarded $1000. Cecilia Ping: China through the Lens of a Piano. Unanimously awarded $1000. Joanna Rotkin: Small Moment of Sky dance performance. Because of budget issues, the request failed for lack of a motion. Colleen Mylott: Big Love Theater was unanimously awarded $1000. Joan Bruemmer: Good Girls Don't, But I Do theater performance was unanimously awarded $1000. Boulder County Media: Boulder Georgia O'Keefe Film. O'Hashi did not have avenue for the project. The request failed for lack of a motion. Edica "Pacha" Schuckman: Propheseeds, an interactive art installation at Communikey was awarded $965.66, Salmon voting against the proposal. Giving Voice Productions: Promiscuity, Passion and Promises theater performance was awarded $1000. Elizabeth Baron: A collaborative production of Age of Agamemnon was awarded $1000. Margarita Blush: River Story theater performance was tabled. Blush was not in attendance. Christina Song: Jollification, an art installation, will be exhibited during Communikey performances. Song was awarded $864.18. The vote was 3-1 with Salmons dissenting. Etown: The grant was withdrawn. The BAC does not fund capital projects. Liza Weems-Sawyer: Photography exhibit proposal.
