Dear Members of the Open Space and Mountain Parks Board of Trustees,
I'm writing to urge you to reconsider the proposed sale of the Hodges Property ahead of
your March 11th meeting.
Boulder County already faces some of the highest land and housing costs in the country.
For local farmers — especially young and emerging producers — access to affordable
housing on farmable land is not a luxury, it's a prerequisite. OSMP's portfolio of farm
properties with on-site housing represents a rare and irreplaceable community asset.
Once sold, that access is gone permanently.
The Hodges Property is currently doing exactly what we need more of: providing shelter
for agricultural workers while keeping working land in production. Selling it sends the
wrong message at the wrong time.
If Boulder wants a resilient, locally-rooted food system, we must keep land and housing
accessible to the farmers who grow our food. I ask that the Board preserve this property
and protect OSMP's farm housing portfolio as the community treasure it is.
Thank you for your service and your consideration.
Sincerely,
Jeremi PLAZAS
A Boulder county resident
