RESOLUTION NO. 1040
A RESOLUTION OPPOSING PROPOSED AMENDMENT 48 TO THE
COLORADO CONSTITUTION CONCERNING DEFINITION OF A PERSON
FINDINGS
The City of Boulder City Council finds as follows:
1. Amendment 48, a proposed amendment to the Colorado Constitution that
concerns the definition of a person, sometimes called the "Personhood
Constitutional Amendment" has been placed on the statewide ballot for 2008; and
2. Coloradans deserve access to safe and confidential reproductive health care
services free from harassment or politically motivated restrictions; and
3. The City of Boulder opposes unnecessary risks to and undue burdens on people
seeking health care; and
4. The City of Boulder opposes criminalizing doctors and medical staff for
providing legal and what is now constitutionally protected care to women; and
5. The City of Boulder opposes unwarranted governmental intrusion into people's
most personal and private decisions; and
6. The City of Boulder opposes using the constitution to deny health care to women
and their families and in such a way to have sweeping unintended consequences
for the people of the state of Colorado;
RESOLUTION
The City of Boulder does hereby declare its opposition to, and urges a NO vote on, the
ballot question known as Amendment 48, which will appear on the November 4, 2008
election ballot.
