Good Morning,
Please do not allow the flood wall to be built at CU South and please do not allow any Open
Space land to be used and destroyed for flood mitigation. The riparian areas in CU South are
so important ecologically and are home to endangered species. Please continue to do your
important jobs and say no to this project and any future permits. The flood wall is a horrible
design and insanely expensive. There are so many viable alternatives to help PREVENT
flooding to the downstream neighborhoods. The current flood wall design only DELAYS the
inevitable flooding - the flood wall design will still allow the neighborhoods to flood. I have
emailed the city council about less expensive and more effective suggestions on how to
prevent flooding without building the flood wall. Some of those include raising 36, putting in
storm drains in the Frasier Meadows neighborhood, eliminating medians in the neighborhood
and installing drainage systems, removing the berms at CU South among other ideas. Do not
be pressured into "saving lives." Again, the flood wall doesn't prevent the flooding, it delays it.
Destroying Open Space for such a hideous and expensive project is unthinkable. The proposed
pipes and drainage system could fail if not built or designed properly. This would not allow
the groundwater to flow properly under 36 which would desiccate the beautiful habitat and
lands on the east side of 36 in addition to destroying the land west of 36.
Please think of the future and the extreme importance to protect any and all Open Space
lands no matter how small. The flood wall project will have many unforeseen, damaging
consequences. Please do all you can to not approve any permits or allowances for this
detrimental project.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Thank you for putting wildlife and Open Space
first.
