Vision Zero Plan:
The City will embark upon a
systemic approach to crash
reduction by focusing on
common crash types which
include pedestrian crashes
while crossing the street.

Pedestrian Crossing Treatment Installation
Guidelines are only one of many ways the
City of Boulder is enhancing safety for all
roadway users.
•First developed in 1996
•Latest Update 2011
•Update to align with FHWA and nationally
accepted context-sensitive approaches
Goals
•Improve the consistency and methodology of the design and application of pedestrian crossing treatments by:
•Developing a citywide approach and practice for the installation of pedestrian crossing treatments
•Creating a transparent document to share this methodology with stakeholders and respond to community requests
