Tour of Recently Completed Projects and Mapleton Hill Alleys
Staff will be sending out a doodle poll to schedule a couple of hours to tour and discuss
recently completed landmark alteration certificate projects while looking at the current
character of alleys in the Mapleton Hill Historic District. Please think of a project you
think would be interesting to visit and discuss.
Demolition Application Revisions
Marcy has been working with Planning and Development Services Center staff on a
revising the application for the review of demolitions of non-designated buildings older
than 50 years in age. Update at Meeting.
Secretary of Interior’s Standards Workshop in Aurora, CO November 29th, 2018
Several Board members have asked about the possibility of getting more insight into the
Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation and how they are manifest in
Boulder’s design guidelines. This workshop will be an excellent opportunity to learn
from John Sandor and Dan Becker, both very knowledgeable about the broad
application of the Standards in communities around the United States. We can cover the
cost of registration and reimburse for travel costs to Aurora.
Moving of House at 744 University Avenue to Lafayette, CO - November 29th, 2018
Moving of this house to Canon Street in Lafayette, CO is scheduled to commence about
12 am on Thursday, November 29th. Update at Meeting.

Civic Area – East Book End
The Landmarks Board held a study session to discuss the Civic Area East Bookend Plan
on August 1, 2018 in City Council Chambers, prior to their regular meeting. The
surveys of non-designated properties in the study area over 50 years old were
presented at the Sept. 5 Landmarks Board meeting. The information provides
documentation of those sites and will help inform decisions made as part of the East

Harbeck-Bergheim House
Parks and Recreation has extended the process to explore options for the future use and
ownership of the designated Harbeck-Bergheim House. Visit

Atrium Building
The Atrium Building will be considered as part of the East Bookend Planning effort.
Historic Boulder has agreed to continue keeping the March 2015 application to
landmark the Atrium on hold as exploration of these options continues. Update at
meeting.
Visioning for Sustainability & Resilience at Chautauqua
On October 25th, city staff from Parks & Recreation, Open Space & Mountain Parks,
Public Works and Historic Preservation participated in a facilitated visioning session
with the Colorado Chautauqua Association staff and board members in developing a
framework for a conditions assessment & strategic plan for energy efficiency and
sustainability at Chautauqua. Update at Meeting.
