Item 6A - Update memo1 DATE: October 3, 2018 TO: Landmarks Board FROM: James Hewat and Marcy Cameron SUBJECT: Update Memo Landmarks Board Appointment Interviews to fill Eric Budd’s spot on the Landmarks Board are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Buildings, with appointments anticipated at the City Council meeting on Oct. 2. Historic Preservation Plan The process to update the Historic Preservation Plan was kicked off at the Landmarks Board’s Aug. 1 meeting. Staff is in the process of forming a working group and will provide an update at the meeting. Visit the project webpage at https://bouldercolorado.gov/historic-preservation/boulder-historic-preservation-plan Civic Area – East Book End The Landmarks Board held a study session to discuss the Civic Area East Bookend Plan on August 1, 2018 in City Council Chambers, prior to their regular meeting. The surveys of non-designated properties in the study area over 50 years old were presented at the Sept. 5 Landmarks Board meeting. The information provides documentation of those sites and will help inform decisions made as part of the East Bookend Plan. Atrium Building The Atrium Building will be considered as part of the East Bookend Planning effort. Historic Boulder has agreed to continue keeping the March 2015 application to landmark the Atrium on hold as exploration of these options continues. Update at meeting. …continued 2 Visioning for Energy Future at Chautauqua City staff from Parks & Recreation, Open Space & Mountain Parks, Public Works and Historic Preservation will be participating in a facilitated visioning session with the Colorado Chautauqua staff and board members in developing a framework for a strategic plan for energy efficiency and sustainability at Chautauqua.
