FIRST ~-IOUR FREE - Making it Happen
I. Changes recommended/supported by focus group of Downtown stakeholders'
a. Increase meter rates to $1.25/hour in mid 2006 (currently $1.00/hour)
b. Increase garage rates to $1.25/hour in mid 2006 (currently $1.00/hour)
c. Charge at meters on Sundays (garages remain free on Saturday/Sunday)
d. Provide users of parking structures the first 60 minutes for free
II. Implementing these changes will have a neutral impact to CP.GID's financial
health
III. Primary Tasks to be Executed
a. Present recommendation to BID, DBI, DMC
b. Meet with Downtown churches, merchants, restaurants, office tenants
i. Develop a campaign committee
ii. Gather signatures on "Sign-Up SheeY' (similar to BID process)
iii. DBI Board Members to lead effort and outreach groups
c. Focus group to gauge potential public reaction
d. Outreach to appropriate political leaders
IV. What is needed from DBI Board Members
a. Endorsement of group's recommendation
b. Commitment of time to support outreach efforts & lobby community
