The City of Boulder, through the Pazks and Recreation Department, is mterested m developmg Valmont City Pazk for the cihzens of Boulder Concept and Site Review plans for the pazk have been approved. CurrenUy the pazk is envisioned to be a nux of achve mdoor and outdoor recreatronal facihues, along with passive recreation and wildhfe habitat features. The pazk is to be primanly created through partnerslups wIIh non-profit, govemmental, and busmess organizat~ons The plannmg for ttus pazk started wrth the passage of a Bond Issue m 1995 that allowed the Pazks and Recreat~on Department to purchase the land for active recreational uses for Boulder Ciuzens. Ttte planmng has conunued with ongomg city staff, PRAB, cit~zen, and potenual partner mput. Dunng the last six years, many ideas, goals, and issues have been idenufied that now need to be addressed m a cohesive manner m order for the development of the park to move forwazd ANALYSIS: The creahon of Valmont City Pazk as a large urban pazk with a vanety of achve and passrve components requues the mtegrahon of many complex elements and issues A[tached is a Schemauc Diagram that ouflmes the current issues as they aze known. Each of these issues aze complex wittun themselves, and the funding, timmg, roles of staff, consultants, Board members, and citizen demand need to be further idenhfied, clanfied, and agreed upon before the pro~ect can move on to the next steps for mfrastructure design, partner approvals, and fundmg allocauon. ~ ~ AGENDA ITEM # VII-C.
