HomeMy WebLinkAboutCorrespondance From Doug Hawthorne to Carolanne McKirnan Boulder Creek Festival- Re to the board members From: Doug Hawthorne To: "an_fuath~hotmad com" GWIAe2 COBNet Date: 10/5/00 2 28PM Subject: Re to the board members Dear Carolanne Thank you for your recent correspondence to our Parks and Recreation Adwsory Board The Board will receive a copy of your e-mad, as well as this response Chns Dady, as President of Boulder Creek Events, has been seeking a site for the ice rink in 8oulder s~nce last spring. Boulder Creek Events had identified several drfferent sdes, including park sites, the Civic Plaza near the Tea House, and a sde on the CU campus However, the first choice for the location had always been the sde at Chautauqua Park, as this was the only site where outside sponsorship fundmg was avadable If the Parks and Recreat~on Advisory Board had groen their approval to the use of Chautauqua, then the rmk would have been located ihere. In the meantime, Chns Daily was attemptmg to keep other site options open, includmg the CU site It is our understanding that Boulder Creek Events had not secured any commitments for outside sponsorship funding for that site, or any other site. Without a commdment for outside funding from CU or the State, it is doubHul whether Boulder Creek Events would have used this site I hope this clears up any misunderstanding that you may have had It was clear to staff at the time of the Board deliberations, the Chautauqua sde was the number one site that Boulder Creek Events was seeking approval to use, but that other sites were still bemg considered, should the approval he denied If you have any further questions, please contact me at 303-413-7211 Sincerely, ""' Douglas R Hawthorne, CPRP ~.
