I have spoken to several neighbors concerning the pmposed improvements to the North
Boulder Rec Center The general opmion I am heanng is that most people are delighted
with the ~dea of improvmg the Center, and endorse the nohon of having at least six lanes
m the pool One thmg that many people expressed concern over was the placement of the
paddle tennis court m what is now the only grassy azea on the site. People do not want to
loose the buffer that this area provides and thmk that the hghts and massive appeazance
of the courts will greatly durunish the appearance of the facility. The consensus from the
neighbors ~s to move the courts off-site rather than onto the grass
I prorrused to provide you with a sketch plan for the commumty gardens, which I have
attached to this letter This was provided by the Growmg Gardens organizarion, wh~ch ~s
a non-profit corporation which was set up to promote the preservarion and enhancement
of this site as a commumty gardens. This plan was presented to the Old North Boulder
Neighborhood associahon Apnl meetmg, and received strong support. The use of this
site as a community gardens is some thmg that has widespread support m the
neighborhood Anything that the Pazks Department can do to facilitate th~s, would be
greatly apprec~ated. This is especially important m searchmg for funds to purchase the
land
