The following are the action minutes of the November 1, 2006 City of Boulder Landmarks
Preservation Advisory Board meeting. A permanent set of these minutes and a tape recording

1. CALL TO ORDER
The roll having been called, Chair T. Plass declared a quorum a[ 6:07 p.m. and the
following business was conducted:
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 6, 200b LANDMARKS
PRESERVATION ADVISORY BOARD MEETINGS
N. Kornblum offered an amendment to change the minutes to reflect that she did not review
item 6A in Design Review. T. Plass offered an amendment to item 6B to change Blaine
Kerr's name to Wayne Kerr. On a motion by L. Rucker, seconded by T. Plass, the
Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board approved (5-0) the minutes of the October 4, 2006
board meeting as amended.
3. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION FOR ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA
There was no public participation.
4. DISCUSSION OF LANDMARK ALTERATION AND DEMOLITION
APPLICATIONS ISSUED AND PENDING
No applications pending.
5. ACTION ITEMS
A. Public hearing and consideration of a demolition permit application for a non-
landmarked building over 50 years in age at 1936 Mapleton Avenue, as per Section 9-11-23
of the Boutder Revised Code (HIS2006-00222). Applicant: John Hickman.
Board members were asked to reveal any ex-pane contacts they may have had on this item.
N. Kornblum and K. Watson reviewed the project at a Design Review Committee meeting.
Applicant's Presentation
John Hickman, 3985 Kato Parkway, spoke in support of the application.
Public Hearing
Steve Montgomery, 2207 Mapleton, spoke in support of preserving the existing house.
Barbara Anuta, 2605 Regis Drive, on behalf of Historic Boulder, spoke in support of
preserving the existing house.
Jay Cassara, 1727 Mapleton, spoke in support of preserving the existing house.
Gerry Yuncry, 2240 17`h Street, spoke in support of preserving the existing house.
Motio~
On a motion made by L. Rucker, seconded by L. May, the Landmarks Preservation Advisory
Board voted (5-0) to place a stay of demolition up to 180 days for both the primary and
accessory structures, accepted as findings the staff inemo dated November 1, 2006.
6. MATTERS FROM THE LANDMARKS BOARD, PLANNING DEPARTMENT, AND
CITY ATTORNEY
• Revisions to Option B of the Historic Preservation and Environmental Sustainability
Integration Project.
The board was generally supportive of Option B but had concerns regarding language on
shutters on secondary and tertiazy elevations and skylights on more visible elevations.
