Public hearing and consideration of an application to designate the property located at 1936 Mapleton Street as a local landmark as per Section 9-11-5 of the Boulder Revised Code,1981 (HIS2007-00053). Applicant: Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board. Watson and L. Podmajersky visited the site. N. Kornblum and T. Plass read email correspondence. Applicant's Presentation Rich Lopez, 4450 Arapahoe Avenue, spoke against landmark designation. He stated the owner conducted research before purchasing the house and found that it was not a landmazk and it was not in a historic district. He said there have been over 60 inquiries to buy the property, but no offers have come through because the building is structurally unsound. John Hickman, 2090 Pearl, was available for questions. Two representatives were present, but waived their right to speak. Public Hearing Abby Daniels, ll23 Spruce Street, asked the board to review the site review process. Kr-sten Lewis, 511 Pine Street, spoke in support of preserving the building, but was unclear on the landmazk process. Evon Lafevre, 2127 14`h Street, spoke in support of ]andmazking the building. May, the Landmazks Preservation Advisory Board directed (5-0) staff to draft a letter to the applicant and the Planning Board stating their concerns regarding the redevelopment of the property and expressing their desire to see the building preserved and landmarked early on in the site review process.
