The meetmg was called to order at 5:40 p.m

Minutes of the Apnl 16, 2003 meetmg wera approved as received.
Public Art Dedication: The art work at the Scott Carpenter park bus shelter will be
dedicated May 28 at 830 a.m. Students from Casey Middle School designed and
executed the tile mural
Boulder ValleV School Art Show: In recent years, former Library Director Marcelee
Gralapp and Gartenmann would select and purchase a class art piece from the school art
show. Gartenmann asked the Commission if this was a proj ect the BAC would like to
conhnue. Smith made a mohon to award up to $200 for the art piece Zukowski
seconded the motion The mohon passed unanimously The Commission members
selected three pieces for considerahon. The funds will go to the school for future art
supphes
2004/2005 Bud¢et Update: Gartenmann reviewed the Arts budget submitted to the City
Manager. The decision on the exact percentage of reductions will occur on May 22.
Gartenmann will include an update at the June meeting.
June Plannine MeetinE: The ma~arity of inembers are unable to make the June 18
meeting. The date has been changed to June 25 Agenda items for the plamm~g session
will mclude review oF the mirial Cultural Master Plan update, Techmcal Assistance
grants, and the Arts Paper Commissioners are encouraged to submit addrtional
discussion items to the agenda

Imaeination Makers ~rant uudate: Imagmation Makers Theater was awarded a
Technical Assistance grant contingent on proof of matchmg funds by July 1. Imagmation
Makers will not be notified about pending grant decisions until August. Smith made a
motion to extend the deadhne unhl September 1. Zukowski seconded. The motion
passed unanimously.
Quarterlv Financial Reports
Karen Gerrity, Dairy Director, was unable to attend the meetmg due to a conflict. Ken
Bioom, BMoCA was not available for the meeting.
Dance Bridae: Mary Wohl Haan presented a strategic plan for the Dance Bridge The
initial steps will focus on commumcating with the dance community and communrty at
large A resource for dance is the outcome of eighteen months of community forums
addressmg the needs of the dancers/organizations m Boulder. The contract for the Dance
Bndge is currently at the City Attorney's office.
