Marcy and James,
I have just become aware that at last months meeting, the Landmarks Board put forth a motion to schedule a
hearing to consider whether to initiate landmark designation for a portion of the property at 1035 Kalmia.
As a neighbor, architect and historic preservation advocate, I would like to go on record as saying I am
OPPOSED to a designation for a portion of this property. I agree with the City staff that this would be an
inappropriate action.
Having been a neighbor to this property for 24 years, I have seen proposals for full demolition of the home
and outbuildings. THANKFULLY, that never came to fruition. The current owners are great stewards of
this property. They came in WANTING to preserve the home. They are currently refurbishing the other
two stone outbuildings not in question.
I have brainstormed with them on ways to potentially save the stone building closest to the house. With no
really good solutions, I support the request for its demolition and strongly oppose the initiation of historic
designation to only a portion of this property.
Thank you.

(can you please forward to the Board or is it more appropriate for me to do that??)
