RESOLUTION NO. 898

A RESOLUTION DIRECTED TO THE DENVER REGIONAL COUNCIL OF
GOVERNMENTS BOARD OF DIRECTORS CONCERNING THE 2003-2008
TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM,
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Transportation Equity Act for the Twenty-first Century, TEA-
21, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) are preparing a draft 2003-2008
Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for the Transportation Management Area which
includes all of Denver, Jefferson and Douglas Counties and portions of Adams, Arapahoe and
Boulder Counties, including the portion containing the City of Boulder; and
WHEREAS, the Boulder City Council has been informed of the City Manager's
recommendations for the 2003-2008 draft of the TIP;
WHEREAS, the intra-jurisdictional cooperation and support is evident in the various transit
services, reconstruction and operational improvement project recommendations;
WHEREAS, the city of Boulder supports the goals and policies of the DRCOG Metro Vision
2020 plan and has taken actions to implement each of the six core elements oF Metro Vision
2020;
WHEREAS, the city of Boulder has adopted a Transportation Master Plan consistent with
the goals of the community that aims to maintain the existing transportation infrastructure and
develop a more balanced and sustainable transportation system;
WHEREAS, several of the proposed projects address corridors identified in the Regional
Transportation Plan (RTP) with more flexible and wst effective options than those shown in the
RTP;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BOULDER THAT:
1. The City Council concurs with the City Manager's recommendations for
the 2003-2008 TIP.
2. The City Council authorizes the City Manager to transmit to DRCOG his
recommendations for the 2003-2008 TIP.
3. The City Council supports Longmont's transit application for enhancing
transit service on the RTD M route between Boulder and Longmont.
4. The City Council supports the proposals submitted under Transportation
Demand Management.
