DRAFT DECLARATION
Annual Celebration of Immigrant Heritage
WHEREAS,
immigrants have enriched the United States beyond measure, bringing many
contributions to our society along with the unique customs and traditions of their ancestral
homeland;
WHEREAS
,immigration has been one of the largest single factors in our Nation's social,
cultural, and economic development;
WHEREAS,
immigrants have had an indelible impact on the growth and development of
Boulder throughout its history, playing a critical economic and cultural role in making it a great
and diverse place to live;
WHEREAS,
immigrantshave provided meaningful contributions to the City of Boulder;
WHEREAS,
Boulder recognizes theimportance of educatingthe City’s population on shared
immigrant histories, diverse cultures and the role these play in shapingand enrichingthelife of
the City;
WHEREAS,
Boulder celebrates its first annual Immigrant Heritage Week with a series of events
honoring the experience and contributions of the millions of immigrantswho have shaped the
city for generations;
NOW THEREFORE, I,
,Susan OsborneMayor of the City of Boulder do hereby declare the

Celebrating Boulder’s Immigrant Heritage
I invite all Boulderresidents to celebrate thevibrant life stories of immigrants in our community
and facilitate the successful integration of immigrants into the civic, economic and cultural life
of Boulder.
